AMERICAN MADNESS Doc Screens at Avalon July 30, Book Signing Beforehand at Lion’s Tooth

I’m really happy to say that a special screening of AMERICAN MADNESS, a documentary adaptation of my book of the same title is happening here in Milwaukee on July 30. The documentary is being submitted to film festivals, but we wanted to set up a special screening here so my hometown can get a look at it. Here’s what’s happening on July 30:

5pm: I’ll be signing copies of American Madness at Lion’s Tooth starting at 5pm. At 5:30, I’m not giving a presentation, but I’ll be speaking briefly on the documentary and some updates on things that have happened since the book came out, plus a round of conspiracy trivia (with prizes!) You can also buy the book from the publisher, Feral House, here: https://feralhouse.com/american-madness/ While there, check out some of their other great titles.

6pm: Doors open at the beautiful, historic Avalon Atmospheric Theater, screening is at 6:30. The screening is sponsored by the good folks at Milwaukee Record. After the screening, I’m glad to say that I’ll be joined by director/producer Eric Hayden and producer Kim Hayden who will be in town visiting from LA. Tickets are $13 and available here: https://www.ntg-wi.com/movies/americanmadness

American Madness is the story of a costumed, conspiracy-fueled vigilante named Richard McCaslin aka the “Phantom Patriot” and my effort to understand who he was and how he ties into the larger conspiracy epidemic in this country. I’m extremely grateful to the Hayden family and their hard work. They’ve helped bring this story to a new audience and I’m thrilled we were able to make this screening happen. This story has been a part of my life for 16 years (!) now and looks like it will continue to be in the near future.

American Madness is (sadly) all too relevant today. Richard died in 2018 and I still think about him a lot. Any time there’s some wild conspiracy related shit in the news (which is often) I wonder what his reaction would be and how he would connect it to his “super-conspiracy.” As I’ve said in a recent round of press, when I first came in contact with Richard, I thought he was as fringe as you could get. But nowadays, in an era where we have a FEMA official who says they teleported to a Waffle House, a Health Secretary that collects roadkill raccoon penises, and a President who weaponizes conspiracies to combat reality, I have to think Richard was way ahead of his time. These days, he could he have probably become member of Congress or maybe even head of the FBI.

I can’t wait to see you July 30. Get your ticket today (they’re selling quickly) and take a freefall down the rabbit hole!
